Today we’re announcing the availability of our signature capture POS hardware integration. Signature capture devices (sig cap for short) are useful to any store accepting payment cards, and in certain types of store they’re a necessity.
One example of a sig cap being required is in Missouri, where a recently passed law requires all pharmacies selling Sudafed to use a signature capture device to record who is purchasing the product. That signature is then sent to MethCheck, an organization that provides law enforcement with a tool to see if anyone is purchasing large amounts of Sudafed products. Sudafed is an often used ingredient in illegal drugs, and this integration is helpful to law enforcement trying to curb the production of those drugs. In tandem with our sig cap integration, we’ve also implemented a complete MethCheck integration to help independent pharmacies comply with this new law.
Another benefit of using a sig cap device is that it reduces waste. Today, you’re printing two receipts every time someone pays with a credit card – one for the customer and one that they sign and give back to you. With a sig cap, you no longer have to print two receipts which will greatly reduce your usage of receipt paper.
If you already have a signature capture device then let us know what make and model it is and we’ll make sure that it will integrate with Cashier Live. If you have yet to purchase one, we recommend that you purchase a Topaz brand sig cap. We will be adding these for purchase on the e-commerce section of our site shortly, but for now feel free to give us a call at 877-312-1750 to order.
