We launched the latest release of Cashier Live this morning, and I wanted to give you a quick run through of some of the new features that are available.
Support for End-to-End Encryption, Magtek iPad Pin Pad Devices
First, we just wrapped up testing and now support Magtek iPad devices. The Magtek iPad comes in two flavors, one has a combined credit card swipe and pin-pad while the other has the swipe and pin pad but also includes a built in signature capture device. The most important thing about this device is the support of what’s called “End-to-end Encryption”. When the card is swiped by the customer, the card information is immediately encrypted by the device before it ever reaches your point-of-sale computer. It is then transferred securely via SSL from Cashier Live to your credit card processor, where the transaction is then processed. This is the most secure method for conducting credit card transactions in the world, and we’re happy to bring this to all of our customers today. This device only works with a few of our processing partners, so please give us a call if you’d like to begin using it. We will also be putting them up on our website for sale soon.
EBT Card Support
Another addition is the ability to accept EBT cards via the Magtek iPad device. As our grocery and convenience store’s know, EBT cards are widely used by the government to issue financial benefits. They’re much better known by their former name, food stamps. We plan on expanding our support for our grocery store POS software, so keep your eyes peeled for more features here.
Full Pharmacy Management System Integrations
We’ve also added to our extensive POS Pharmacy software specific features, and we now have full integrations with a number of pharmacy management systems. Today, full integrations are available to customers using Speed Script, RNA, or Carepoint as their pharmacy management system. The integration will automatically create items with the assigned prescription number for tracking, as well as automatically import and update your customer list. Also, when you scan a prescription we will automatically set the patient as the customer for the transaction. We plan on adding more pharmacy management systems to our full integration over time. We still offer partial integrations with systems like McKesson, HBS, QS1, and more. We’ll be at the Cardinal Health RBC show in Las Vegas this week, so stop by our booth if you’d like to chat about these new features.
Item Import Improvements
Finally, we’ve improved our item import capability to support departments and categories. You can now assign specific departments and categories to items within your import file. If you haven’t already created the department or category inside Cashier Live, the import tool will create them for you.
A number of other things have been added, fixed, or improved, but those are the highlights. As always, we’ll continue working on more features and improvements. Let us know if there anything in particular you’d like to see!
